Russ McVey’s Guide Services is owned and operated by Russ McVey. He has lived and fished on the banks of Beautiful Lake Bistineau all his life. In 1995, he began fishing in The Red River when it was opened to bass fishing. He has participated in local, state, and regional bass tournaments since 1985 and is considered one of the top anglers in Northwest Louisiana. Russ enjoys teaching the fundamentals of bass fishing, and can provide pointers for the professional bass fisherman as well as beginners.
For the out-of-town fishermen, assistance in lodging is available.
Gift certificates are also available for those hard to shop for friends and relatives.

2020 Guide Information
2019 was a great year for us at Russ McVey’s Guide Service with some amazing personal fish records – we’re expecting 2020 to be the same!
If you’re planning to come fish with us, we recommend to call us at (318) 464-2277 ahead of time. We’ll check and see what days would be best to head out to the lake or river.
What you should bring
All tackle and gear included upon request at no additional charge. However, you can bring your rod and reels and tackle.
We offer assistance for the out of town anglers in locating lodging and restaurants.

Quick Fishing Tip:
With spring around corner, be ready to see some action! Spring and early Summer means crankbaits and plastics for Red River bass.
Shad and chartreuse colors are good for crankbaits. Purple, black and motor oil colors are good in plastic worms.
